Ashley Carter is a choral music educator, performing vocalist, vocal coach, and composer with roots in Killeen, Texas. Her choral piece “Gloria” SSA(A) is a TMEA Region 8 Middle School Treble Choir auditioned piece for the 2022-2023 school year.
Ashley began her career in 2011 as an assistant choir director at a high school in Killeen ISD and most recently taught as a middle school head choir director for 3 years in the same district. Between holding these positions, she studied Choral Conducting in Nuremberg, Germany while working with various college choirs, senior, community, and church choirs as a stand-in conductor and vocal coach. While in Bavaria, Ashley enjoyed performing with the Madrigalchor (Chamber chorus) and Hochschulchor (University Chorus) and engaging in collaborative projects in Sweden and Prague.
Ashley has served as a clinician for the Killeen ISD Elementary Choir Festival and other local choirs. She is also the founder and conductor of Las Voces, a semi-professional chorus based in central Texas.
Ashley holds her undergraduate degree in Secondary Choral Music Education from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and her Master’s degree in Choral Conducting and Accompaniment from the Conservatory of Music, Nuremberg.
