Musical experience: Performing on piano since age 5; flute since age 10; taught band for 13 years; Flute and Piccolo with Temple Symphony nearly 30 years; Provided piano accompaniment to numerous students at the Texas State Solo and Ensemble contest, as well as recitals
Any awards you have received: Named Outstanding Performer at the Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest (TSSEC) 2 consecutive years on flute; gold medalist at TSSEC 3 consecutive years on flute; All State Band on flute; medalist at TSSEC on piano 2 consecutive years
Hobbies/Interests: Rowing my whitewater boat on the Arkansas River in Colorado; golfing; sewing; baking
Projects you work on outside of the Academie: sewing pet beds to donate to the animal shelter

Favorite story from your musical experience: While studying flute with William Bennett of the Royal Academy in London, we had tea time twice a day. The sheep and horses who roamed the town freely would come drink from my tea cup!
Funny or strange personal story or experience: When I was a senior in high school I was warming up on piano to perform at TSSEC at the University of Texas in Austin. The recital hall floor had recently been polished. As I was taking my seat on the piano bench, my high heel slipped and I landed underneath the grand piano! My teacher exclaimed “Erin, WHAT are you doing?!!” Somehow I made it through the performance, but it was painful.
